Nord-Lock - screw lock without compromise. The Nord-Lock wedge protection technology has been the proven principle for securing screw connections for decades. The original Nord-Lock wedge safety discs are a purely mechanical fastening element, which secures screw connections by clamping force instead of friction. The Nord-Lock wedge safety spring disc® combines the wedge safety principle with a spring effect for the first time. Thanks to this combination not only can the spontaneous loosening due to vibrations and dynamic loads be prevented, but at the same time the screw connection is also secured against loosening due to sedations and relaxation. The Nord-Lock wedge protection spring washers are therefore a multifunctional solution and provide safety for critical screw connections without compromise. The operating principle: the wedge safety discs have wedge surfaces on the inside and radial ribs on the outside. The shape of the wedge surfaces is chosen so that the angle "a" is always larger than the thread pitch "ß". The glued discs in pairs are used so that the internal wedge surfaces lie on top of each other. When the screw/nut is tightened, the radial ribs shape into the countertop. The pair of discs sits firmly in place and movements are only possible between the wedge surfaces. Even at the lowest rotation in the loosening direction due to the wedge effect an increase in clamping force - the screw secures itself. Just after tightening, the screw connection sets. These are offset by the spring effect of the new Nord-Lock wedge protection spring washers. The spring effect (Fs) counteracts the setting phenomena (L) of the screw connection and thus prevents loss of clamping force in the screw connection. The Nord-Lock wedge protection spring washers thus provide an effective protection against loosening during vibrations and dynamic loads and against loosening due to sedations and relaxation. The advantages: maximum safety for screw connections, securing by clamping force instead of friction, preservation of clamping force in vibrations, dynamic loads, setting effects and relaxation, locking function even with lubrication, quick and easy assembly/disassembly, safety function at high and low pre-tensioning forces, same temperature insert as screw/nut.
